At a lose with 14yo step son, now sneaking rum to school.

My step son has ADD that he takes meds to lessen. He shows no interest in any activity beyond staring at a screen. He is smart, quick witted, and loves military history, but if it takes any effort he would rather sleep. We have tried getting him into clubs and sports. He is in the AVID program at school (which he is failing nearly every class).We caught him skipping school twice so far. Admitted to vaping and his dad caught him sneaking rum and Gatorade in a yeti cup to school. Their roommate says she has seen the yeti cup in his bag all week.He is a habitual liar in that he will tell lie after lie and change what he says repeatedly in one conversation.He is the apple of his mom’s eye and she is heartbroken and at a loss. He saw a counselor years ago which was a waste of money (which by the way is limited).Any ideas? People who have felt with this?He has a younger sister that is the complete opposite. 13.
