At the end of my rope

My 3yo daughter absolutely will not sleep. It's gotten progressively worse over the past 10 months but over the last 3 weeks or so it's gotten unbearable. She refuses to lay still and go to sleep. It takes hours for her to become exhausted enough to pass out. We have tried reasoning with her, sitting with her shushing or rubbing her back. We have tried being stern with her, taking toys away, we have tried rewarding her for being good and going right to sleep but we aren't able to even get one successful night to let her see what it's like to get rewarded. We have tried simply leaving the room and letting her deal with it. That results in her getting out of bed and and leaving her room to come to the living room to scream. We tried letting that burn out. She lit screamed for 5 hours. And still never went to sleep. Then e tried putting child proof covers on her doorknob so she couldn't get out. That resulted in her destroying everything in her room, so we emptied the room. Then she proceeded to punch and kick the door for a few hours. On the nights where we are somehow able to get her to sleep she wakes up ever 15 minutes or so all through the night. The doctors gave us some medicine, not sure of the name right now, that is supposed to help her sleep, it has had absolutely no effect.Has anyone been through this? We don't k ow what to do. Please believe that absolutely nothing I have said is even a slight exaggeration. I work nights and my wife hasn't slept in weeks. I watch the kid for a couple hours when I get home so she can sleep but I need to sleep to go back to work at night. We are falling apart here. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2qSdFgz
