My friend's 7 year old daughter tried out for the school play. The auditions stated that not everyone would get a part. However, there were a few loosely-defined parts like "forest creatures" without an exact number of people they would be taking. The kids had to prepare a one minute or less audition piece - my friends daughter memorized a short poem. My friend's daughter did not get a part in the play and my friend was quite angry (I guess she thought all the younger kids would get the loosely-defined parts). My friend strongly feels that 7 is too young for rejection especially when the child is ask to prepare something ahead of time and practice. Evidently her daughter cried/pouted on and off for 3 days.So /r/parenting - is 7 too young for that kind of rejection? And if 7 is too young - what is the appropriate age?Just curious what people thought. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2Gd5i8z
