I have many reasons why I choose to not post pictures of my children on Facebook. I ask others to please do the same. If my kid is one of many in the picture, or far in the distance, I don't care. I made this decision about a year ago, and no one has had a problem with it. Recently a picture of my children, with identifying factors (car license plate, caption of where they were and when they'd return) was posted. Only 3 ppl in pic, 2 of them were my 4 and 6 year old kids. Long story short, the person won't remove the pic. Contacted FB almost 3 weeks ago about this. Completed a form Facebook has specifically for the purpose of having photos of kids under age 13 removed. To date, have submitted about 30 of the same form. Picture is still there. Fb has asked me to resend them the URL like 5 times. Then they said the pic was removed (it was not). They asked me for tons of documentation to prove the kids were mine which I sent right away...still there. And it takes them 3 or 4 days to respond to anything I email. I'd hate to think how long it'd take for a photo with serious privacy concerns to get removed, if one so simple takes weeks! If a photo you posted (or someone else posts), not only of your kids- of anything- gets into the wrong hands and you want it removed, just know this is most likely gonna be the experience. Especially if we didn't post it ourselves, soc media platforms should have efficient and REAL actions in place in situations regarding privacy issues. Until they do, I choose to avoid them altogether! It's naive to think that a time will NEVER come when you may want something removed, for whatever reason. To have no control or consent over what is posted about us on social media is a scary thing.... via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Gjn7D3
