(Also, can I tell you how excited I am to very soon just call him my 5 year old? Less than two weeks now! After child loss in the past, there's something about age 5, and kindergarten, that is unbelievably meaningful to me).Anyway, I'm the very proudest of my kid when I see bravery and honesty in admitting a mistake or something like that. We all make mistakes you know, and I'm more interested in encouraging owning up to and fixing them rather than punishing them.Anyway, as many kids do he loves to use our phones to watch YouTube, so I gave it to him this morning while I hopped in the shower. The second as I turned off the water, the door hesitantly opened and little dude said "Mom, I think you need your phone, something popped up." I checked, it was my reminder to take an early shower. I handed it back to him, explained, and his little face lit up "I can still use it?!?"Sweet kid anticipated it being taken away, but came and told me about the reminder anyway. I have had to take it away in the past, often, when it's a work email I need to deal with, etc.Not the biggest thing in the world, but I was proud and had to share. I think it shows honesty, courage, a good ethic, etc. I definitely got dressed quick and went and told him how proud I was and why. Since that happened he's been following me around the house telling me loves me.Anyone else have great heartwarming stories of little kids bravely admitting a mistake or taking a risk, in order to be honest or compassionate or just plain good? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2G85piz
