My fraternal (b/g) twins are 13 years old. They have similar personalities and interest and have always been close because of this. They are even in the same friend group at school. This has also lead to extreme competition. I always assumed this was normal and they would outgrow it but that hasn't been the case. It has gotten worse over the years.Everything is a competition and they can't celebrate each others accomplishments. Both are running track this spring and they had their first meet last weekend. They both did well and each placed in their individual events but they spent the whole way back to the house arguing about who was better and who had the bigger challenge. They have some classes together this year and do the same thing in class. When they get test back they are always comparing their scores. Both do well acamdeically but only seemed motivated to beat their sibling. They even do this for the classes they don't actually have together. My son tried out for the school talent show and made it. Instead of congratulating him my daughter said that she would have made it if she tried. They are both running for class president for the 8th grade and elections are coming up in April. They make Hilary and Trump look like BFFs.I know that being competitive with your sibling is normal. There is a line though right? I don't have any siblings and my husband's only sibling is 7 years younger so we haven't had much experience with this. People say they are fine and we should be happy that they get along and hang out with each other but so much of that time is spent comparing themselves to each other. Is there anything we could/should do? Do we sit by and continue to wait until they "grow out of it"? Is that a thing? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2oEb2yh
