Daughter believes strongly in fairies, leprechauns and unicorns

My daughter's (8yr) father and I are not together. He strongly encourages her believe in these things. At his house, she has a "fairy door" where she leaves notes to her fairy and he writes her back as the fairy. When they go on hikes, he sprinkles glitter around and says it is fairy dust. She gets angry when her friends try to open the fairy door or don't believe her that she has a fairy.Recently, she has been building leprechaun traps. She watches YouTube videos about people making potions to make fairies (think dragonfly wings, glitter, melted together over a smelly candle). She told some kids this week she wants to catch one and 2 of her schoolmates told her that they caught one and got 3 wishes. She is in second grade, where most kids don't believe in this anymore and I worry A - her dad is encouraging this behavior. Granted, I don't want to ruin her imagination and innocence, but I don't want to keep lying to her...some day she will find out. B - I am worried it is negatively impacting her friendships. She has gotten in arguments with kids about what she believes is real versus what they believe.I'm sure she will grow out of it at some point, but I'm worried about the impact it is having with her friends/schoolmates and the wanting to make leprechaun traps, fairy building potions, etc.? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2HND55s
