Should a sick (common cold) parent go to the pediatrician with their kids for an appointment?

Help me settle a debate with my wife please. I'm on day 2 of a cold/sinus infection but both kids have doctors appointments today. She wants me to go to with her because she thinks there is an expectation that sick people will be at a doctors office so it's okay for me to be there. I think I should stay away to limit other families' and the staff's potential exposure to a known sick person, especially since I'm not the one actually being seen.
