My son is 16 and in his final year of high school. He's always been a smart guy (IQ tested 133+) but he's never had great grades or done extremely well in school. The only subjects he likes are math, computer science and finance. Unfortunately, he has to study a lot of things he hates at school, and these subjects drag his grades down. He hates physics and chemistry. He only studies the subjects he cares about, like math and computer science. He can build front end web apps, and he also has a business idea he shared with me, so he isn't a total dud. However, he has a lot of confidence issues and is constantly worried about if he can be successful in the future without going to a good college. He has a chemistry assignment due tomorrow which he hasn't started because he spent all week researching on which mutual fund he wants to invest his savings in.His behavior is very erratic and childish. He told me that he hated school and that he was tired of it. He said that he hated us because we've forced him to be alive due to which he has to live a life full of suffering. When he gets angry or frustrated, he goes around screaming, crying and breaking things like a toddler. He's broken 2 mirrors, and a metal closet door. Today he told me that he doesn't want to go to any of his classes, or study anything anymore.Whenever we confront him about his breaking habit, he tells us that it's our fault for forcing him to be alive, so it's our fault.I've already taken him to 3 therapists, the latest who put him on 20mg fluoxetine, however my son says that the medication doesn't really change anything.I'm at my wits end. His huge emotional tantrums and explosions every 2-3 weeks are driving me and my wife crazy. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2sbyzFK
