Hey, there. My 5yo daughter and I are going to visit my partner in San Francisco for 10 days. He lives in Alameda (so not right in the city) but we will be venturing into the city and exploring often. Alameda is also very walkable and anytime I go visit him we typically walk to dinner or to the beach, etc.My 5yo (almost 6) daughter is too big for a stroller or to be carried but I feel like she's still too small to handle as much walking as we may do. I think she can manage to walk the mile to the beach, but she might get tired on the walk back and want to be carried, and at 45lbs that's a bit hard to do all the time! Especially if you have a backpack or something.I expect we'll have to take an Uber from time to time, too, so I'm budgeting for that. My boyfriend does have a car, but sometimes it's easier to walk than to park and walk.Any tips for traversing big cities with kids that age? Or walking around a lot?I will say she is excited about walking! We live in the Midwest so not a lot of walking places, and she watches TV/movies with people who walk places and she's excited to do it haha.I think she'll be fine. I'm just trying to plan in advanced for any tired-from-walking meltdowns. I also remember being her age and whining that my feet/legs her but I toughed it out and I'm sure she can too, need be. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2sNVFnK
