18-month speech regression

Hi, everyone! My husband and I are having some serious concerns regarding my son's speech. He's currently 19 months old, and when he was about 13-14 months old we were on a great track for speaking. He would say a bunch of things like dog, (names of certain family dogs), fish, turtle, mom, dad, juice, hi, bye, - etc. His vocabulary wasn't giant, but it was there.About 3-4 months ago, I went back to work. Our home schedule has been inconsistent, but his schedule changed and then pretty much stayed them same. He stays with his grandma/great grandma in between the time I would drop him off and my husband would pick him up. Our problem is now, he will say maybe mom and dad. If we are lucky we might get a 3rd word somewhere throughout the day. But that's it. In a way, he's talking more (i.e. babbling, making more noises) But he's talking way less and not actually using his words.I understand not being home to work with him every day may be delayed his speech because he hasn't gotten the practice he used to. But as fate would have it? I guess? I was actually laid off last week. A couple weeks ago we starting trying to get him back talking again, and now I'm trying so hard all the things that used to get him talking with no success. He's not even trying or won't pay attention or would rather gesture or pull me towards something he wants instead of saying it.I'm at a loss. Does anyone out there have any pointers for me or any speech activities or games that could get my son talking again? He's so smart and I really feel like I've let him down as a parent. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2tj2LD4
