Is kayaking with a baby a thing?

I have a 6-year old and a 10-month old. I also have a kayak. I have a lot of room in front of me when I'm sitting in my boat where my 6-year old can sit and I can still paddle comfortably. I've gone out a lot with my 6-year old but I'm wondering if it's acceptable to go out with the baby?I wouldn't bring both kids of course but I'm wondering if it's like socially acceptable, safe, etc to put a lifejacket on her and take her out paddling? I wouldn't go anywhere where the waters are rapid. We live very close to a paddling center with a calm bay, no big boats, just mostly other kayakers. Thoughts? Googling on the internet says that I'd be a bad parent if I did this so I thought I'd ask you guys since you're real people. Here is me and Layla in our kayak on the bay (my life jacket is in the boat too)I would put the life jacket on her and then wear mine too. I wouldn't strap her to me because that doesn't seem safe. Just have her sit in front of me. I think she would enjoy moving around and sit still and just enjoy.Or should I wait until she is older? What age? Thank you in advance for discussion! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2sFfIpO
