Potty Training: Almost 3 year old won't sit on the potty

About a month ago we gave potty training a try with our almost three year old. It seemed like the right time - he told us when he needed to poop and wandered off for privacy and would sometimes let us know when he was peeing ( in his diaper). He starts pre-school in the fall and they require the kids to be potty trained in advance. We did our research and tried the three day method. Took the diaper off on day one and waited for the first accident. It came soon after, no big deal. Son didn't see too concerned. We tried to get him to sit on the potty to wait for it to come, but he WOULD NOT GO NEAR anything that resembled a toilette. We've got a seat for the big toilette as well as a little potty you can put in the living room. Refuses to sit on either. Doesn't seem to mind wetting his pants. Had to put the diaper back on late in day two because we was getting visibly uncomfortable holding his poop in. Has anyone out there run into this? We offered light encouragement, small bribes, large bribes just to sit on the damn thing and he just won't. We decided to take a break and start back up in a month. And here we are, square one. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2sWpaXk
