My in-laws come to town every summer and just love to 'spoil' my 4yo. I know they mean well and they do it because they love her, but it really bothers me! I feel like they're undermining everything I'm trying to teach my kid about valuing what she has and not always wanting new things when they blow into town and shower her with expensive toys. I've tried telling them to give her money if they really want to give, because we can use that for actual stuff we need for the 4yo like a new bed, school supplies, etc. but they insist it has to be a toy otherwise it doesn't count. I love my in-laws and they're great, but I don't know how to get them to curb their gift giving without actively offending them :( via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2sxtEjS
