The magical toilet cookie

My son has been potty trained for almost 2 years, but he still uses his baby potty a lot more than the "big people potty", mostly for convenience I assume, and because pooping is easier when you can just plop down on it.But, he's going to Kindergarten in September so it's time to get used to the big potty. I didn't really know how to make it more appealing to him to choose that one over the small one, until I one day bought those water tank "cookies" that turn the water a deep blue.He saw me flush the toilet one day and noticed the blue water and it blew his mind. His favorite color is teal and he went "Oh my god, mama, I didn't know our toilet had teal colored water! That's so cooool!!!"Suddenly, it came to me.I said "Hey, you know else is cool? You know how yellow and blue together make the color green?"Mhm! Like my watercolors.""Right! Now, what color is your pee?""Yellow!""Aaaand, what's the water's color?""Teal!" ... watches the gears in his head turn and come to the conclusion as his eyes widen and a smile spreads on his faceHe started hopping in place while simultaneously tearing his pants off. "I gotta pee, I gotta pee, I gotta pee!" watches him gleefully pee in the big potty"Wohohoaaa, it turns green! Mama, my pee makes the water go from blue to green!!!"Yup. And that's the story about how I made using the big potty more exciting to use for my son. Of course, now I have to stock up on water tank cookies until he leaves for college. It's a sacrifice I am willing to make. ;) via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2oBSq3u
