New parents to a 5 month old. My MIL makes comments to the baby in a teasing/joking manner about my husband, for example "I'm sorry, I did everything I could, he's your problem now". My SIL does the same thing. This has happened twice now (one time by each of them) and I want to tell them to stop but not start a war between us. I'm a straight forward person (I call it as I see it) and this isn't always the best tactic. My husband says he doesn't take offence to the comments, but I do. More importantly, I don't want my child being raised to think that sarcastic comments are how we show love. It's undermining and disrespectful. I realize the baby doesn't understand the comments, but I'm hoping to stop a habit before she gets to an age where she does understand (kids take comments literally). Any advice as to how I can get this to stop? Should I address this, or is this an area my husband should manage because it's his Mother and sister doing it? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2nAmOen
