We may have backed ourselves down into the deepest hole in co-sleeping hell

Our wonderful 2.5 year old, with whom we have always co-slept, has turned bedtime into a 1-2 hour routine, which is longer than mom would like. Right now we do not have a strict bedtime. Mom takes her up, because dad has been refused for bedtime for several months now, reads some stories, and then she sings and goofs around, always for at least 40 minutes, usually closer to 1.5 hours, sometimes longer than 2 hours, until she's finally asleep. At this point, I, the father, am totally uninvolved with bedtime after the bath, pajamas, and toothbrushing are done. This seems like an unreasonable arrangement compared to the stories we hear from other parents of just putting their kids down and letting them get themselves to sleep, which is roughly 100 times faster than what we do...Of course if we did this she would just hop down and run out to us screaming. Not sure what to do here! Anyone want to throw in their two cents? No need to mince words, if we're total fuck-ups, let us have it. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2dhic7U
