I have a special needs child who is not receiving appropriate services under his IEP. The school has done essentially nothing, and has now decided upon a more restrictive placement for him against our wishes. The IEP has only been in place for a month. The school district said they would pay for an independent evaluation, because they agree theirs was insufficient. Now they are holding up the approval process for that eval. They just want to move my child from a general ed class to entirely self-contained at a different school. I have an attorney and we will file for a due process hearing. Has anyone else ever been through this? I need suggestions for how to take care of myself during all this. It is so stressful. I'm not sleeping well at all and my blood pressure is through the roof.
