My son's orthodontist says he's not brushing; my son says he is. His gums are expanding over his lips and I'm not sure what to do.

My son (13) is certainly lying about his daily brushing, and sometimes I wonder if he's even showering. I would like to see dental improvement by the time we return to the orthodontist in 3 weeks.
