my 10 month old won't eat solid food any more

My son is 10 and a half month old and formula fed. At 9 months he was eating so well,3 meals a day and 3 bottles of follow on formula. Then he started refusing his food and it never got better. He has gone up to drinking 6-7 bottles now in a 24 hour period and hardly any solid food. I have tried finger foods, but he eats a tiny amount and then gets bored. If I try and feed him with a spoon he either won't open his mouth or he spits it out. if I try and let him feed himself he will just play with the spoon and eventually throw everything on the floor. My partner and son's father is not very helpful. He says if our son doesn't want to eat he is not hungry and doesn't need food and not to feed him. Anyone been through something similar?
