How can I block Ryan’s Toys Review from YouTube?

My kids are absolutely obsessed with this garbage! I have tried to remove this from YouTube completely and try to point my kids toward more educational avenues but this garbage comes on all the time! Doesn’t matter how many times I dislike or clear history, etc. Why is YouTube pushing this! It’s so materialistic and horrible for kids! I just need this to be removed from YouTube ! Someone help! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2NhuBqv

Ex girlfriend and I have very different parenting styles

We're both 24 and our son is 5. While I myself am not big into laundry lists of rules for him, just basic " clean your room, brush your teeth" stuff, she on the other hand is the " no rules, all play, friend first" parent. We share custody. For example, there will be times where she'll drop him off at my place while he's beyond jacked up on sugar. When he gets angry with me he'll tell me about how much he misses Mom & wishes he were with her because she's " more fun".Her entire reasoning for being the " cool" parent is because she doesn't like seeing him mad or upset, so she doesn't punish him. I've tried explaining to her that her parenting style is not sufficient and that when he says " I hate you" he doesn't mean in so she shouldn't be afraid to put her foot down. She'll turn around and criticize me like I'm being harsh. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2KCGyZs

Potty Training. Success when pants-free. Underwear holding us back, and what to do about preschool on Monday.

So tried to work on potty training w/3 year old daughter this weekend. She does great w/no bottoms on! Only a couple accidents, but she normally runs over to the potty to tinkle if need be. However, if we put underwear on her, she seems to be confused and pees right in them. That has happened back to back this morning (day 2). So, do we keep her naked below the waist the rest of the day? What about when she goes back to preschool tomorrow (my husband & I can’t take any time off, my office is super short-staffed this week, and my husband needs all his time off for our vacation (family wedding) next month.) Do I send her to school with pants and no underwear? A skirt? Or put a pull-up on her which she’ll just pee in like a diaper? All our previous potty training attempts have been disastrous fails, so I was surprised that we finally had success, but now I can’t stay home to build on it. Parenting while battling depression

This is my biggest battle yet. My son is 16 months old and the light of my life. However when you have suffered from severe depression and anxiety your entire life, it's really hard at times to put life/good energy into someone else. I can't stress how difficult it is to put in 100% all day every single day. And then comes the guilt. The guilt that I'm going to somehow pass my depressed mood onto him. That I'm not being the best mommy to him that I can be. It's hard to be a mom when some days you don't want to leave your bedroom. It's hard to get out and do things when your anxiety is so high, you worry about every possible little thing. Recently I've been afraid to do things in public because of all the random shootings that have been happening, as well as kidnappings and women abductions. It's hard to be a mom and get all the shit done you need to get done, when you feel not worthyI feel trapped sometimes. A prisoner of my own mind and a slave to my fear. I hate this. I've tried and tried to break it and nothing works. I used antidepressants and anti anxiety meds for years, and they would only help temporarily. Then I'd go into darker depressions than before. So I quit big pharma, and my depression hasn't been as bad. But it still eats me up some days. Today is one of those days. I had to vent to someone because I'm afraid my family members are tired of hearing about it. Thanks for reading. If you have any suggestions on how to deal with this, please let me know. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Kpsgfo

What’s the going rate for the tooth fairy?

My 5yo daughter has her first loose tooth. It’s not super loose, so I guess it could still take a couple weeks to fall out. She is so excited about the tooth fairy visiting her. So, what is the going rate for the tooth fairy? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2lKedSZ

Is this normal? 6 year old insists opinions, ideas, thoughts are true

My 6 year old son is a thinker like me. When he doesn’t understand or know the answer to a question, he will theorize one. I feel this is a great quality except, he will explain these theorizes to me as if they are fact. If I respond and say, “That’s a great explanation! I can see why you’d think that. Did you know that we usually see lightening before thunder is because light travels to our eyes faster than sound travels to our ears?” This is where he problem is. He will insist I am wrong and that his idea and not the facts are true. It seems as though he believes any thing he thinks or any ideas he has are fact. I’ve tried to explain to him that it’s a better skill to be able to listen and consider what someone else is explaining than it is to know everything but it doesn’t seem to help. He still insists he is right. Aside from the obvious issue, it can also occasional cause problems at home. For instance, this morning he saw a squirrel near detached garage and told me he found out where the squirrels lived and showed me the hole. I replied, “They probably could fit in there, huh? But these squirrels live in nests in the trees.” He insisted it lived in this hole. He then tells his father this, who already had anxiety about bird feeders we put out this summer because the squirrels occasionally eat from them and is paranoid they’re going to destroy the house (the bird feeders are far out in our acre yard). I try to explain to him that our son just thinks that and eastern tree squirrels do not live in the ground and took a bit convincing to remind him of our sons tendencies to believe thoughts as fact.I’m not sure if this is typical 6 year old behavior as he’s our only child. I’d love to hear your feedback!tl;dr 6 year old son believes all of his thoughts and ideas are fact and won’t listen when we correct him via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2IJd4Ej

I am amazed by single parents

I just want to tell all the single parents of Reddit, you guys are doing an incredible job!My wife has been in the hospital since Thursday, leaving me to take care of our four week old daughter on my own in the evenings. I can't imagine going every day without a partner to help you with your child. Keep doing what y'all are doing, you amazing people! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2tTjueQ
