I need a miracle... or some new advice, because we've tried everything. My son is almost 5 and refuses to poop in the potty. We paid $$$ for a GI evaluation and he doesn't have encompress or other gastro issues. I've heard so many people have luck with the pull-ups disappearing, but that doesn't work either. He has NO problem pooping in his undies or pants. When we attempt the 'run around naked' he poops on the floor (or silk oriental rug). Bribery, iPad on the potty, presents, trips to disney, completely ignoring it and hoping he'll take initiative have not worked. Its flat out refusal. He understands that we want him to poop on the potty. He will happily run and pee, but when it comes to #2, he enthusiastically says that he can't/won't poop on the potty. Positivity doesn't help. My meltdowns don't help. I feel like forcing him on the toilet with prunes or laxatives may be our next step, but most people suggest that would have the opposite effect and further stigmatize it.The kids in his class call him 'poopy' which can't be a coincidence, but it doesn't seem to deter him. I know everyone says it will happen, but I lie awake at night wondering what I can do. This has real consequences. He is not allowed at summer camps, pre-k or kindergarten if he soils himself. Additionally, kids have long memories, and he could be bullied and teased for YEARS to come. My sister pooped in a friends pool at 4, and people STILL joke about it 30 years later. funny now, but cruel and humiliating for the majority of her childhood.Basically, I'm asking if anyone has a miracle solution? Or even a book suggestion for a child that refuses. I want to see a psychiatrist, but with Covid, that won't happen for some time. I should also mention that he has speech issues (we're still doing speech therapy over zoom, and he is likely on the spectrum or suffers from sensory issues.... that evaluation is delayed indefinitely bc of covid as well). Please help if you had any break through! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2x6VH0A
