Not opening gifts during a bday party, is this allowed/ok?

We have a Birthday party coming up for my little one. My little one will already be on overload because of all the people attending, so we are wanting to withhold opening gifts during the party. We have activities going on for the kiddos....snacks, cake, etc. Plus I've always felt a little odd taking time away from enjoying everyone's company or the kiddos having fun to make everyone stop to watch gifts being unwrapped. Is this socially acceptable? Thoughts? Concerns? Has anyone been to a party where they did NOT open the gifts in front of everyone and what were your thoughts? Do set up a gift table with a note explaining that we will open them later? Thanks in advance for any help. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2uYdpSA
