We're really struggling with baby number 3! He is entirely unable to self sooth during the day. He sleeps fine. If mommy is home, the only thing that will settle him is her picking him up and he is instantaneously happy. He's generally ok with me or anyone else when she is not around, especially when he goes to grandma's. But at home he will just shriek and shriek and shriek for hours if she's not holding him and we're reaching our wits end. Holding the shrieking little dude right now to give mommy a break. It's affecting all of us, including his 4 year old and 6 year old brother because we just have to go numb and try to tune him out, shout reading a book to the bigger boys while the little dude screams. We feel horrible because it feels so unfair to them. Does anyone have any advice besides just mommy holding him for all his waking hours? This may be slightly related, but he was a lot like this as an infant, but more around sleeping. It started around 3 or 4 months, I think. He would not sleep in his crib for more than 30 minutes and would just shriek and shriek for hours until someone picked him up. I slept with him in a rocker every night for months just to keep our sanity . Eventually we booted him out of our room and did sleep training. It was harder with him than the other two boys, but he got it and started sleeping and napping very well. That just hasn't worked with the daytime crying and neediness. We're reaching out for help because it's getting to the point of resentment, in his brothers and in us. We're just so over it and we hate feeling that way. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2uXYaJJ
