My five year old is obsessed with rocks. Last night before bed I noticed her nails had lots of dirt under them and asked her if she was digging in the dirt again. After several evasive answers she finally owned up to digging for rocks at her elementary school. She also confessed to having a collection of "pretty white rocks" in her crayon box. I asked if her teacher knew she had the rocks. She said no they weren't supposed to bring them inside and she was being sneaky when she did. I told her that she might want to get rid the rocks in her crayon box before the teacher finds them and throws them away. I told her to put them in her backpack or something. She said that would be sneaky (but she has already snuck the rock contraband into her crayon box). Then completely broke down crying from the moral delimma of it all. I had to reign in my laughter.
