Neither my wife's family nor mine are crazy gift givers. We gave each of our daughters (3 years and six months) two gifts each, my family gave some small things and my wife's mother/siblings gave some small thoughtful gifts. My wife's step mother gave each child 8-10 gifts (maybe more, I'm not sure). The three year old got a drum set, a play kitchen, a 60 piece kitchen set (pots, cups, vegetables etc), clothes, an easel and paints and crayons and markers, chocolates etc etc etc. Not only is it too many gifts, it's all really cheap basically disposable crap. I genuinely couldn't list everything because it was just gift after gift after gift. What's a tactful way to ask her to only give our kids 1-2 gifts for Christmas and birthdays moving forward? I hate that they give them so many things, I hate that it fills my house, and I hate that it all goes into the trash within a few weeks as it breaks. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2sbkEWh
