14 months old had a febrile seizure for the first time and I’m scarred for life.

She started having low fever 101 or so yesterday morning possibly caught a cold from her older sister (6), but no other symptoms present and she was acting very normal eating playing etc. Ped said not to come In unless it lasts more than 72 hours. Was just alternating Motrin/Tylenol. I gave her a dose of Motrin and put her to bed at 6pm. Was monitoring her with camera all night around 2am I was up just checking on her thinking if I should go and check her temperature when I heart her cry out once so I rushed in and I found her seizing. Right away my husband called 911 and we were taking to hospital. The seizure lasted around 2 min. They gave her Tylenol checked her out. No ear infection, chest X-ray clean, good oxygen and sugar levels. The fever went down and they discharged us. Went to see her pediatrician today as follow up to do blood test nasal and throat swabs and urine test just to see what virus she might have. Probably not bacteria I guess. She still having fever on off so have to alternate medication. This evening the Motrin didn’t really bring it down as I’d like to so I gave the Tylenol closer (still within safe limits). Now she is sleeping and I’m checking on her like once an hour and taking ear temperature. Right now it’s at 99.4 and I can’t give her anything for another 2 hours. So I’m worried if it spikes and I won’t be able to give her anything. Obviously I’m super shaken and I don’t think I can ever sleep again. I’m gonna stay up all night monitor closely. We don’t have history of seizures and my oldest never had them she is 6. I know it can reoccur. The dr said it shouldn’t reoccur witching same illness. But I think it could as what I read searching. And I’m terrified. I know it’s not harmful but I’m gonna have PTSD from the first one I’m not sure I can live through another. Any advice support appreciated. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2rbX4Ii
