Parents of Reddit, what are the "must-haves" (new vs. gently-used) for new parents?

Hi there, I am preparing for my first child - due at the end of January. What are those must-have items for baby that should be purchased new vs. gently-used? I definitely plan to invest in a new car seat but am not sure what else needs to/should be purchased new. As a single-mom, money is a factor so any advice would be great!
