So my daughter was in the hospital a few weeks ago after an accident that required her to have emergency surgery. Thankfully she is healing well, and should be walking again (she's 5 and is currently in a wheelchair) in about 3 weeks. She is such a trooper, it's unbelievable! But life has been totally turned upside down, and although the support we've gotten from friends and family has been incredible, holy moly I fell behind with work SO badly. I work 4 jobs (I teach two night classes at local community colleges, I do billing for a surgery center, and I work remotely for a tech company) and I am so far behind even with working a ton over the weekend. Between taking a week off after the accident, losing morning preschool time (I have to take her potty like twice during 2.5 hours, it's ridiculous), and losing my nights to do work (kiddo has been having a lot of nightmares), I am just wrecked.Luckily, today a sliver of hope for not drowning has emerged!!! Finals are this week so I won't be teaching for a few weeks, and I asked for a leave of absence with the tech firm and they said YES. OMG internet strangers, I nearly cried. I have to prep an entire course before summer semester starts in three weeks so this time to focus on just two jobs instead of 4 is absolutely crucial. Plus, I might even be able to enjoy myself when I'm with my kiddos instead of stressing all the time!Sigh of fucking relief.Anyway, thanks for reading internet buds!TL;DR: Totally overwhelmed after daughter got hurt, getting a leave of absence from one of my jobs and I can breathe a little again! via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2M4jzIE
