My son [3] won’t speak English.

To put it simply, my son won’t speak English. He instead likes to speak my native language. It’s not that he’s incapable, I know very well he can. He just doesn’t like to do it.When he was born I wanted him to learn my native language first, because he’ll learn English at school and what not. So from when he was small there wasn’t too much English. When he was 1 almost 2 ish I started to switch it up a bit, speak English and my native language. We’d watch tv shows in English and I’d read him English books. He’d repeat after me, and he seemed to enjoy it.At first when he wouldn’t talk to me in English I thought it was cute. Like I’ll ask him a question I’m English and he’ll just respond in my native language. Idk why but I thought that was super adorable. Well according to the one of the ladies that work at the daycare. He does the same thing. It’s an issue because they don’t know what he’s saying. They’ll ask him a question in English, and he won’t respond in English.I know for a FACT that he is capable of speaking English, because the ONLY person he does speak English with is the dog. (If he thinks I’m not looking)I don’t know exactly how to change this, I feel like it’s something that would pass over time, yet still kinda bothers me. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/30KYRkv
