So I was trying to get my kids(5 year old twins) to clean up the disaster area that is their play space.... they were resistant, naturally. One was insistent that I should just let them watch Mythbusters rather then clean, to which I said nay, and countered that we could watch Mythbusters after we cleaned up.She tried to deal. "We watch ONE episode of Mythbusters and then clean up a little bit, then watch ANOTHER episode, and them clean up a little bit, and we make it a pattern!"I agreed that we could do this, but only if we cleaned for a little bit first, then we could watch. We settled on 15 minutes of cleaning, then 15 minutes of TV, repeating until the job was done.I set a timer for 15 minutes on my phone and they set about their job.I then reset the timer every 5 minutes or so while they weren't looking until they actually accomplished something worthwhile. They never noticed.Am I a genius, or just a dick? lol.... (We're currently watching Mythbusters btw...) via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2QkxxEM
