So my 4 year old has been told and shown countless times how to be gentle with our pet cat. But every HOUR she seems to forget. She’s not being cruel, she just treats the cat like a play thing rather than a creature with feelings. She ends up picking the cat up weirdly or squishing it with hugs. But here’s the thing, the stupid cat keeps going back to her!!! It would be easier if the cat would go to one of the “safe spaces” we provide for her, but noooooo the cat will willingly go back to the kid and then complain/meow pitifully when the kid gets too rough. I’m obviously concerned that the cat is going to get injured at some point, but I have no idea what else I can do here. I’ve tried teaching my daughter, disciplining my daughter, and providing safe spaces for the cat... but nothing seems to change the fact that multiple times a day the cat is getting squished with 4 year old love. The cat has the patience of a saint and the IQ of a log.Any ideas? via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2X7IdJM
