My son is about to turn 4 and every year, we invite my parents and 1 brother and my husband’s parents (they tend to bring some of my husbands nephews or nieces or another brother with their family) to Disneyland. We all know cast members or are retired cast members and we usually go and have a giant lunch together and we get a cake for our son and our son is always very happy. We’re annual pass holders so we go often but birthdays are a favorites day. All your favorite rides, snacks, and one toy under $100. We do anything the kid wants to that day.But really, the reason we do this is because our parents can’t stand each other and my parents don’t get along with my in-laws very much. I don’t care for all the people on my husband’s side either. He’s the youngest and he’s been treated like shit by a lot of them since he’s met me, so then I was treated like shit when I wouldn’t roll over for them.Since our kids are not in daycare, or school, we don’t know a lot of kids anyway. Next year when he turns 5, we want a huge party for him and his friends from whatever school he’ll be at. But for now, it’s our day to celebrate our son. We do the same thing for our daughter as well but she’s only 2 so she doesn’t really mind not seeing a bunch of family either. Anyone else do this? via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2wk5hZR
