Dance classes were such a hassle

My kids are grown now, but looking back at my time as a parent, one of this things I hated the most (and honestly, there weren't many) was dance class. I'm wondering if we just picked a bad dance studio or if other people have this problem.First is the expense. You pay for the class. You pay for the costume. You pay for the recital tickets. If you child was in one of the competition classes, you pay for the competition tickets. And on top of that they ask you to fund raise? Are you kidding? Why am I paying $34 per week (for each class) if I'm asked to fundraise? The costumes were the worst. You have no say, of course, because it's a class and the teacher picks the song and the costume to go with it. And they you pay for the costume your child only wears for the recital and maybe the competition. That's it. Never again after that. Every class. Every year. And the competitions? I don't think I've never gone to one less than 100 miles from my home. And the dance company didn't transport the children. Oh, no. I have to drive my own child and stay the whole time. My child might have two performances, but I have to watch hundreds of other 10 year olds do their dance because we have to wait for awards.I'm glad my child learned to dance. I hated everything else. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2O2hHkA
