I (22f) have custody of my 9 year old little sister. I've recently been hired at a new job, and I'm super excited about it because it offers a lot of things that she and I need, like benefits and weekends off, a full 40 hours etc.The only problem is scheduling. I suppose I might be able to still wake her up in the morning, but I'd have to leave immediately after. My current job allows me to wake her up and see her off to the school bus, and then make my way to work with 15 minutes to spare. The new job will be cutting it close to even get her up in the morning.I've purchased two alarm clocks for her, one digital and one analog and she *swears* she can't hear them. Both are decently loud (though the digital one is a little less than the analog, so we've ditched the digital) and on the bedside table, not to far from her precious little head. The whole house hears them through the walls. I've walked in after the fifth minute of the alarm sounding off to baby sis sleeping soundly, open mouthed and drooling like always. Yet a gentle tap on the shoulder and "Sissy, sissy wake up!" in a hushed voice get her right up.Once she wakes up she spends a LONG time in the bathroom, probably sitting on the toilet doing nothing. Idk. She comes out without her teeth brushed and her hair only brushed on one side most days. I have to look her over and send her back in again almost every day.I really would like her to wake herself up in the morning, but I also genuinely need her to get a hustle on and get to the bus on time. And, like, do a decent job of getting herself ready. I suppose I'm asking for a lot. I could probably wake her up a little earlier if need be, because she has a pretty good bed time, I think. About 10 hours of sleep a night. What can I do? Please, help me internet! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2D7emur
