Teenage Tattoos

Let me give a little background info. I have 2 sons one is 19 and the other just turned 17. My 19 year old is in the marines and is currently living and training in Texas and my 17 year old is a junior in high school. My 19 year old will soon be deploying to Europe, so my 17 year old and his cousin (19) will be flying from our home in California to stay the weekend 2 weeks from now. My 19 year old got his first tattoo when he first moved to Texas at 18, my younger son has been asking for my permission to get one on the upcoming trip. In all fairness he has had the he same idea for a tattoo since he was 14 years old. My father in law got a tattoo of a flying pig on his inner forearm when he was 18 and in his 60s decided to cover it with a different tattoo he felt was more meaningful. My 17 year old wants to replicate his grandpas old tattoo in the same spot as he liked the tattoo and knows it will remind him of his grandfather when he grows older. The boys have been talking over the phone and my 19 year old asked the same artist who did his tattoo if his underage brother could come in to get it done. The tattoo artist agreed as long as they bring in a form of consent with a legal gardians signature on it. When he first asked me I told him absolutely not but I’ve thought on it and I do trust his judgment and don’t think he will regret the tattoo later in life. My only major concern is the location of the tattoo being on the forearm and the negative effect it might have when applying for jobs in the future. I would love to hear other parents opinions, thoughts or other things to consider. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2HiHuOL
