My LO (little one) is 10 weeks and does not fall asleep on her own. We always have to hold/rock her to sleep and as she is getting bigger and I am soon going to work we need to break this habit. I have tried putting her down while drowsy (when I see her yawn) but she doesn’t go to sleep. She will just lay in her bed and eventually cry to get picked up. She DOES sleep at night, but that’s because when she wakes up to eat she is still half asleep so when I put her down it’s just a continuation of her sleep. The only way I get her to sleep in her bed is at night. During the day no matter how much of a deep sleep she is in as soon as we put her down she will wake up within 5 minutes. I have tried white noise (makes no difference) and swaddling (she will wake up trying to bust out). I can’t keep holding her to keep her asleep and need to start doing something different. What can I do? How can I teach her to fall asleep on her own? Does anyone have any success stories to share? I read an interesting view on why babies like to be held to sleep: “They are hard-wired to know that only your arms provide that safe place. After all, babies who were put down in a jungle to sleep were often eaten by wild animals. The babies who protested until they were held by their parents were more likely to survive and pass their genes on to us.” (Just thought I would share that) via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2uSM83n
