Potty training: How old were yours when you started and how long did it take from start to finish?

I posted the other day about our 19 month old using the potty for a bit of her sister's Easter candy. Since then she's been pretty consistently using it when we're home, but still wears diapers anytime we go out. She's had a couple accidents but nothing major. She's definitely still trying to figure out how to control everything though. So I'm just curious how long most other kids took, just to have some idea of what to expect. My older one didn't really start until she was just over 2.5 and it was like there literally was no potty training. She knew immediately how to use it and I think she had ONE accident in the mall once and that was it. I swear she was just waiting for me to finally decide to say the word and was probably like, "What took you so long??"
