I bought a car last fall, my first brand new car, straight from the dealership. I am so proud of my car, and myself. My last car had 2 doors so no worries about the toddler opening it while on a drive. He is four now and although he knows better than that, I still put on the child lock. Just in case. In case he jumps out of the car in a busy parking lot, in case he decides to play with the handle and the door opens, in case he opens it and slams it in an other car or person or object. We just came back from the grocery store. I took my place behind the wheel while daddy installs kiddo in his car seat. I hear a loud thud.. what ? I look to my left and what do I see ? The car next to me's door, slammed in my door. Who do I see holding and leaning in the door ? A little girl. She must be around my son's age. Her mom's on the other side of the car, looking for something, not paying attention to her daughter. I open my window and wait for the mom to come around to my side to see the damage. Her door is still open, blocking mine. The mom comes around and I pop my head out and say "Could you just take a look at it, see if it left a mark ? Your daughter just slammed her door in my car!". The expression of shock and guilt in her face was enough for me not to get mad at her. "Oh my god I'm so sorry! I told her to wait for me and not open the door!" She shut her door so I got out of the car. She apologized and although it made a little dent, it really wasn't that bad and the paint didn't chip, so I told her not to worry about it. I looked at the little girl and told her with a friendly but serious voice "Be careful sweetie when you open your door! You just hit my car!".Put on your child locks people, children can be unpredictable. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2qOsmBM
