Lesser of two evils: a child raised as overconfident and then parents in hopes of regulating arrogance as they get older, or child not raised with enough self-confidence and then parents in hopes of boosting it as they get older?

Purely a hypothetical/philosophical question as I hypothesize that it’s easier and more effective to regulate overconfidence and correct it as a child grows than it is to successfully restore a balanced sense of self-confidence in a child who has experienced low self-esteem in the past.Essentially if something was to go awry during parenting, which of those scenarios do you think is the ‘better, but still bad, screw up’?Thoughts? Would love a parent’s perspective. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2oHNHeU
