Birthday party etiquette when no gifts are requested

My 3 year old son was just invited to a birthday party and the invitation says “no gifts please.” Is it ok to show up without anything, or should I be offering to help? I don’t know the mom very well, so I’m worried it would be intrusive or awkward to offer to help, but I also don’t want to be rude by showing up, letting my kid make a mess, then leaving without having contributed anything. Does “no gifts” truly mean not to do anything? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2FHdTNT
