(Very) low-stakes question: to battle or not to battle on this one?

This is such a low-key issue it hardly merits a post, but hey... kiddo has decided that shorts are completely unacceptable. Pants must be worn and they must go all the way down to the ankle. It's definitely about the coverage-- all the way down to the ankle. Shorts, kiddo is quite sure, are the creation of fevered, deluded, lunatic adult brains, and being asked to wear them is an insult.I should note that there are zero indications that this could be symptomatic of any sort of larger issue/constellation of problems-- abnormal sensitivity to sensory stimulation, compulsive tendencies, etc. If a bunch of other similar stuff started cropping up we'd grow concerned, but this really is just him being a toddler, and therefore slightly crazy (at least it appears that way from an adult perspective). We live in a very warm area. Pants are going to be pretty damn uncomfortable, already; in mid-August they're going to border on child abuse. So then: try to push the issue on shorts, help him reconsider his position, perhaps make the decision for him and just ride out some tantrums until he gets over it? Leave it be for a couple of weeks of pants-only, then try again and see if he's forgotten about his objections? Or just... let him choose to wear pants only?Go ahead, y'all. Solve a relatively easy one for me.EDIT: Cool, it appears there is widespread consensus. Pants it is. Seems nuts in the heat, but whatever. If it ain't worth fighting it ain't worth fighting. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2p10JTL
