Reading at bedtime to kids, how to use tone?

Is there a preferred method of reading using your voice? For example, I see three different types of reading that parents use:1) monotone2) change of tone in voice based on situation3)completely different voice used with different characters, this usually always incorporates number 2 also.So I'm wondering which is best? It's bedtime, so wouldn't monotone be a way for them to fall asleep? And I've heard when in conversation not to use baby voices with kids, we should talk to them using our normal voices. so does that mean maybe #2 might be the best option? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2p6fip7
