My daughter never really liked to do her homework from school and has always struggled very hard to keep focused while doing it. She would bring it home usually on thursdays and she would return it tuesday or wednesday the next week. And usually me or my wife needed to sit next to her and explain what was needed and what she needed to do. This was always to the tune of several variations of "i don't want to do this". We have explained many many times that homework can be fun if she just tries to focus, and that is important so that she keeps learning. But whatever we say has no results.Today we asked the teacher to try and help her during student's choice. No results. I don't blame the teacher in any way, just hoped that maybe she would have an easier time focusing.Today we came home, asked her to sit and start reading the text, and she just sits there with her arms crossed while I read my book besides her.I feel so frustrated. Just don't know what to do anymore. How do you help a child this age doing her homework? I can i motivate her to at least try? Should i make her sit down until she does it, while being around to help if she asks? Should i just let her face the consequences of not being able to read her homework to class and feeling embarrassed because she didn't do what her friends did, she didn't try hard enough? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2n8QsHA
