I have a 2 and a half year old and an 9 month old. Out eldest was a really tough baby. Up 8-10 times a night until he was 10 months. As a toddler he is up 1 to 3 times a night. We just get up and put him back in his bed, sometimes he just does it, sometimes he gets upset. Generally I try and not say anything when I put him back down, occasionally I’ll re assure him with a cuddle when he’s really upset. My 9 month old is up 3-4 times a night which isn’t terrible when compared to what we went through with our eldest, but they won’t settle without a bottle. They have a good dinner just before bed and a full bottle so they can’t be hungry by 10pm which is usually when they first wake.when combined with the eldest now I’m exhausted. I work, my wife studies from home. So we take turns because she needs to survive the day so I’m happy to help out. However I am wrecked. I can’t remember the last night I had 7 hours straight. I think it would be over 2 years. My wife is in the same situation. What the hell are we doing wrong???We have plenty of friends with kids and they all sleep through after a few months. One of them have a newborn that has woken twice at night since being both and they are 8 weeks old. We’ve tried all the homeopathic remedies for sleep out there. Our toddler eats well, has plenty of dinner before bed. We have a great bath time routine for bed which makes them sleepy. But they just can’t get through the night.I fully understand all kids are different, we have been going through this for almost 3 years, seen doctors etc so I guess this is more of a vent and hope in a messed up way there’s someone out there that can relate to us. Ultimately I love my kids so much I could do this for the next 10 years if I have to but far out sometimes it’s tough and wish once a week I could have a night where my wife and I could get 6-7 hours of sleep.Edit: I just want to point out our eldest had terrible reflux and that was the cause of his sleep issues, it was treated medically which helped during the day when he was sitting completely upright but at night even with an elevated bed and medication he was in pain. As per the doctors recommendation we just had to wait it out and by the time he was around 10 months it started to subside and he would only wake once or twice a night. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2ywa2Eb
