Newborn cries when put down for bed.

I’m a first time mom and although I knew that having a newborn would mean almost no sleep for me, I wasn’t prepared for no sleep at all. My baby is almost 3 weeks old. He’s a good baby during the day, but as soon as night hits he gets extremely fussy and just wants to be held constantly. So I’ll rock him in my arms and comfort him until he’s calm or asleep and then I try to put him into his bassinet and then I hop into bed myself. Within ten minutes he starts screaming, every time. He’s fed, changed, warm, just got lots of love from me and yet he still cries. Then as soon as I go and look into the bassinet and he sees me he’ll stop crying and looks perfectly fine... then I walk away and he cries again. I get that this is newborn behaviour, but my question is how am I supposed to get any sleep? He’s only quiet when he’s in my arms and I can’t sleep with him in my arms. Aside from just letting him cry in his bassinet long enough for me to get a quick nap in I don’t know what else to do! And yes we’ve tried the 5 s’s (swaddling, etc.) doesn’t work. Any parents out there deal with this and have any tips on how to cope? I’m at the point where I don’t even bother getting into bed anymore because I would literally have to get out of bed 10 times throughout the night to stop the baby from crying. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2VulVDn
