I need to brag on my little dude for a moment. My son has always been a kind hearted little guy, but he really showed a mature side of himself I've never seen before.Last night we were up taking turns playing Minecraft on the Playstation. We were having a great time when all of a sudden I was hit with uterine spasms. I used to get these often, feels like what labor felt, but within the last few years they have for the most part subsided. They were painful, but I was always able to push on with a smile on my face.Last night they were so bad they took my breath away. I laid down on the couch trying not to cry. My son asked if I was okay, and all I said was okay, and truthfully I said, "Mamas in a lot of pain, Bug." He asked if he should get dad, to which I said no don't bother him. Husband was upstairs in his office teaching his Zoom classes at the time and I didn't want him to be bothered for something I knew would subside in a few moments.Son did something I've never seen before. He got down on my level and started taking deep, exaggerated breaths. He told me, "Breathe mama, you'll be okay. Just breathe." I followed his instructions and honestly it did help curb the pain. It reminded me a lot of being in labor and my husband reminding me not to hold my breath. In a few moments the pain subsided and we got back building our fortress. I told him, "I know you want to be a police officer, but you'd make a great doctor." His empathy and cool head under pressure really, really impressed me. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3bzYPB8
