I live overseas. My mother is at the end of her treatment for ovarian cancer and now under palliative care, after being diagnosed with stage 1 in 2011. I have 2 1/2 year old in daycare 4-5 days a week and am home on maternity leave with our 6 month old. The fall the longest she will last, if that. I want to go and take a long visit and just be there for her this summer. My husband is a farmer and busy season is now underway. This means he can manage probably about 10 days with me visiting at the end of July.Baby is not a great sleeper and I'm getting about 2 hour stretches at night. He naps 3x day for an hour give or take. I'm pretty darn tired but thankfully with daycare, and his mom to come round the evenings when I'm alone for bedtime I'm hanging in there. So what do I do? When do I go?? Can I handle 4 weeks on my own with the kids away from home and grandparents that aren't going to be at my disposal as babysitters? At the moment I'm thinking go near the end of June with both kids and survive. Or go sooner with just baby and leave the little with dad and grandparents - meaning only seeing our older child while she is visiting with dad. Both plans involve the older child going home with dad and me staying on until middle-late August with just baby.Edit: to say I am most DEFINITELY going to visit, just trying to figure how soon and with what configuration of kids... We also went in March as a family for a week and I stayed on 3 weeks extra alone with baby. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2WnUcG0
