Okay so my 4th grader was at school the other day and during an inside recess (held in an open room classroom) a group of kids started getting loud. I want to remind you this is during MCA testing, so kids in other classes are testing, while recess is given meer feet away?! So my child and a couple of his friend quietly played on the floor, the principle confirmed their behavior as acceptable, while she had to walk over them to intervene in the current situation with the disruptive children. The teacher than decided to punish the entire class by taking away their recess the next day. The kids had to sit in the library, in the center if the school where the entire school can see them, with their heads on the desks. So my child is being communally punished with public humiliation for following directions?!Following recess yesterday, during a break, they had their breaks taken away today for a separate incident involving a group of students. I'm not really sure if it was the same group or a different group. I went in to speak to the principle and was told this is just how it's done sometimes. So if my kid doesn't do anything wrong he is going to get punished anyway? What does this teach my child?!So after speaking to the principal I checked my son out of school to reward him for doing what he was supposed too instead of being punished at school. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2vyNTA2
