8 year old is asking odd questions about death. Normal or something to be worried about?

My 8 year old started talking about death as a concept a few years ago and I was assured it was normal thing for kids to explore. He has a medical condition that isn't terminal but complications can sometimes lead to death. It's not common but he was aware of a kid around his age who passed with the same condition and become fixed on death for a while. We talked it over with the child life specialist at this hospital and they weren't worried. They said that the passing of a similar aged boy stirred up some anxiety and to just be honest but reassuring. He had a medical emergency a few weeks ago and it has stirred up emotions about death again but this time he's asking different questions. The other day he asked if I would be sad forever if he died and when I told him that you never really get over something like that, he said that he hopes I wouldn't always be sad. He asked this morning if his brothers would be okay if he died and asked if I would be mad at God if he died. I told him that I hope we never have to worry about that and that he's as healthy as someone with his condition can be, but still wanted answers. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2YIqsky
